2024 International Conference of Taiwan Finance Association (TFA) is held at National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST) on June 7 and 8. The conference theme this year is “Reflection on FinTech Innovation: Opportunities and Risks”, where TEJ is invited to lecture on “ESG Index – Strategy Construction and Backtesting”.
Under high inflation and soaring housing prices, ETFs with high dividend yield have become one of the hottest investment targets this year in Taiwan. Meanwhile, ESG Sustainability Development is also on the trend, raising market interest on ESG-related ETFs. In the process of constructing indices and developing strategies, there are three crucial and indispensable steps: strategy ideation, backtesting validation, and performance analysis. However, after determining the direction of the strategy, the preparatory work of data collection and integration can be time-consuming. Additionally, during the backtesting analysis, it’s essential to avoid common logical fallacies such as survivorship bias and lookahead bias.
