In November, TEJ was invited to speak at the “2025 Annual Conference of the Chinese Accounting Association in Taiwan,” co-hosted by the Chinese Accounting Education Association and National Taiwan University’s Department of Accounting. During the applied research session, TEJ explored the evolving landscape of ESG research—moving beyond traditional ESG disclosures toward the use of spatial data to quantify companies’ exposure to natural and physical risks. The presentation centered on global ESG research developments and the application of Taiwan’s unique datasets, underscoring TEJ’s pivotal role in this field.

ESG data is crucial for data-driven decisions, which is why we will focus on its benefits and provide a guide on how to collect ESG data for reports.

In today’s globalized economy, real-time and reliable financial information is vital for businesses, policymakers, and academic researchers. TEJ (Taiwan Economic Journal), with our excellent data quality and professional standards, has long been highly regarded in the field of financial databases in Taiwan. Moreover, scholars have published over a hundred research papers using TEJ data in international journals, highlighting the database’s significance and influence in academic citations.

TEJ has been invited to the 2023 Taiwan Accounting Association Annual Conference on November 30th. In this session, we highlight the significance of sustainable disclosure information and provide an overview of ESG information disclosure among Taiwanese companies.

On June 2nd, we’re delighted to have co-hosted the "Sustainable Finance & ESG Management Trends" seminar. Together, we explored crucial ESG management topics related to responsible investing and financing targets, taking a step further on the path of sustainable finance.

In the past, Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI), Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB) and Equator Principles (EP) promoted by the United Nations for the financial industry emphasized that ESG-related factors should be considered in investment and financing positions.To be in line with the promotion of international sustainable finance, the Financial Supervisory Commission released the "Green Finance Action Plan 3.0" in September 2022. It proposed five major promotion directions and emphasized that financial institutions should understand carbon emission conditions related to not only themselves but their investment/ financing portfolios. Evaluating and identifying the possible impact of climate change on individual financial companies and the overall market to promote the development of sustainable finance.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) released the "Net Zero by 2050: A Roadmap for the Global Energy Sector" report in 2021. More than 130 countries around the world have responded. The same year, my government revised its long-term carbon reduction target to net zero carbon emissions in 2050. And continue to amend the law to improve the climate legal environment, expecting to be in line with international standards and continue to promote sustainable development plans.

With the ESG trend, countries worldwide are setting carbon emission targets one after another, so the trend is to develop sustainable energy. Sustainable energy includes renewable energy, green energy, clean energy, etc. Renewable energy can be considered sustainable energy generated through renewable resources; green energy refers to the energy that provides maximum environmental benefits, and clean energy refers to power generation that cleans the air.
